End of Year Revival 2024
Church School program – February 23, 2025

Please join the Bethel AME Church School as we celebrate Black History Month on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 10:30 am in the Sanctuary. Using the national theme “African Americans and Labor,” the featured speaker is Senator Tony Hill of Jacksonville who will passionately share the life and legacy of A. Philip Randolph and the contributions he made to the black labor movement in the United States. This is a presentation you do not want to miss. Hope to see you immediately following worship service on Sunday, February 23!

Please read more about Senator Hill below

ANTHONY C. “TONY” HILL, SR.

Senator Tony Hill is a fighter for working people, a public servant, a veteran of the United States Army, and a devoted Christian.

Senator Hill, a Jacksonville native, served in the United States Army before being honorably discharged. As a longtime labor leader, he served on the Executive Board Member of ILA Local 1408 and Secretary Treasurer of the Florida AFL-CIO. He was initially appointed to this position in 1995 and then elected to serve through 2001. In April 2001, the Florida AFL-CIO bestowed Senator Hill with the honor of the appointing him to the esteemed position of Secretary-Treasurer Emeritus. Quickly recognized for his extraordinary commitment and service to the labor movement, the AFL-CIO inducted him into the Florida Labor Hall of Fame and presented him with A. Philip Randolph Award. Hill is the youngest inductee, and the first African-American to receive this prestigious honor.

He was elected to represent Jacksonville in the Florida House from 1992-2000 and the Florida Senate from 2002-2011. A dedicated humanitarian and community advocate, Senator Hill sponsored a bill to create the first-ever State Capitol Civil Rights Hall of Fame, making Florida the first state in the nation’s history to have such a Civil Rights Hall of Fame.

Senator Hill is the middle child of Mrs. Cordelia & Mr. Ernest (deceased) Hill, Sr., and is married to long-time love Patricia. He is the proud father of four children and grandfather to ten grandchildren. A man of commitment and service, Senator Hill also inspires and leads those in the household of faith as long-standing member of the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, teaches Sunday School and is the founder and chair of the Men’s Usher Board.
