THE ELKINS-WILLIAMS
Women's Missionary Society

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

Proverbs 31:25

Sister Sylvia G. Petties, President

We are called to strengthen our faith and sent to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ by service and witness to the world.

THE ELKINS-WILLIAMS
WOMEN’S MISSIONARY SOCIETY

The Women’s Missionary Society at Bethel AME Church was renamed in 2011 after two genuine/sincere missionary-minded women, Sister Margaree B. Elkins and Sister Olivia Williams (deceased).

The WMS globally, is composed of over 800,000 members located across four continents in thirty-two countries.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization is to help people to grow in the knowledge and experience of God through His Son Jesus Christ, through continual Christian training as well as individual and collective mission works, thus challenging us to respond to God’s redemptive plan in the world.  We are to be reminded that God is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent.  The mission is to serve the present age.  The task is not to judge, but to serve.  We check ourselves first.  We check “I” before “You”.  We take of the breaks of negative criticism.  We don’t Belittle…. We Be Big.  We try to do the things that are pleasing to God.  We Pray and Obey.

VISION
Our Vision is to foster a greater commitment to Kingdom Building on earth, through working together with God leading.  Together we aspire and achieve.  Together we fulfill the mission.  Together we accomplish the task.  Together we honor and welcome each other.  Together we encourage each other.

CHARGE
Our Charge is to encourage members to cooperate and participate with a determination to be better advocates and leaders, in building relations to worship and serve God together.  We as members must be accountable for our stewardship.  We serve on a Legacy of Service.
